What Is The Difference Between The Inverters That Start With 3G3 And CIMR? Do They Work The Same?

The 3G3-type inverters are referred to as Omron brand, and the CIMR-type inverters are referred to as Double Brand, i.e Omron Yaskawa.
They are basically compatible, both regarding specifications and parameter settings, but there are some differences concerning special features.

We strongly recommend reading the related manuals to verify that all features used in a specific application are available when shifting from one type to another.

The following example shows some of the functions where functionality in CIMR-V7 is changed compared to the old 3G3-MV:

  • Energy saving function in 3G3-MV is not available in CIMR-V7
  • Fast digital input (START / STOP)
  • New START/STOP control (in addition to 2- and 3- wire)
  • Mechatrolink
  • UP2/DOWN2
  • Selection between two motor settings
  • Motor protection with PTC input
  • Bidirectional PID-Output
  • Frequency Offsets
  • Remote I/O
  • Simple Autotuning
  • Max carrier frequency is 14.5kHz
