Why does my computer Blue Screen while communicating?

There is a known issue with the old version of the device driver for the CS1W-CIF31 USB to Serial Convertor cable that can cause the PC Operating System to halt the operation with a Windows 'Blue Screen Of Death' followed by an enforced system reboot.
