How Does Automatic Memory Allocation Work? - PLC


Automatic allocation allows 'work' symbols to be automatically assigned an address. The address ranges from which to assign these can be set in the below window.



Click on PLC and Automatic Allocation. The window, is shown above.

First, tick the "Enable automatic allocation for this PLC" . Then choose Add ...

    Enter the starting address and the number of addresses. In this example, the words 90 and 91.
The data types can be set to "Any" still but if this area is only used for help, "Restricted" and "Bool" can also be chosen.


Programming the contact is now just the name and filling in the comments.
After "OK" the symbol will be automatically provided with the first free bit,  in this case address 90.00.
